+# Cam's Computer Vision Library
+
+A basic library of (not remotely production-ready) computer vision
+functions.
+
+## Building
+
+CCVL is written in Rust and uses Cargo as its build system.  The Rust
+toolchain (including Cargo) is most easily installed with
+[Rustup](https://rustup.rs/).
+
+Given that you have a toolchain installed, the library can be built as
+usual for a Cargo project:
+
+```
+cargo build
+```
+
+You can also run one of the example binaries to see it in action:
+
+```
+cargo run --example canny foo.ff foo-edges.ff
+```
+
+Only the [farbfeld](https://tools.suckless.org/farbfeld/) image format
+is supported for input and output at the moment.
+
